Top Gun’s Val Kilmer made a rare public appearance for his TwainMania Foundation.
The actor stepped away from the spotlight for the last couple of years amid his health battle with throat cancer. On Sunday, Kilmer was front and center at a fundraiser to educate children on author Mark Twain’s legacy.
Kilmer wore binoculars around his neck while posing on the red carpet. He gave a speech later on at the Los Angeles event.
Last year, Tom Cruise gave an update on his co-star, saying it was “special” getting to work with his friend again. “He’s doing really well,” Cruise told Extra.
Kilmer is set to appear in the upcoming sequel, Top Gun: Maverick alongside Tom Cruise, Jennifer Connelly and Ed Harris. The film hits theaters in June 2020.
