This time of year, millions of us would be typically enjoying a spring getaway or finalizing plans for a much-needed summer vacation. But, with travel bans, stay at home orders, hotel closures and flight cancellations, many people are unsure what to do about upcoming travel. Should you cancel? Can you get money back? Is it safe to plan something later? The Daily Buzz talked with a travel expert, Sarah Gavin to get advice on pressing travel questions and concerns.
Sarah says there is good news for travelers. During uncertain situations, the travel industry comes together to offer flex policies. Whether it’s a refund or a voucher – flex policies allow travelers to change or cancel upcoming travel plans without penalty. With higher than normal call volume, websites like Expedia, Travelocity and Orbitz have updated technology, giving travelers an array on online self-service tools to handle travel plans…without the long wait.
If you’re itching to get away when everything settles, Sarah says not all travel is off the table, but she recommends booking refundable travel, for peace of mind and flexibility. And, as for your travel rewards, Expedia is giving customers another year before their points expire. Silver and Gold status is extended through 2022.
