Taylor Swift Holds Moment of Silence in Honor of Aretha Franklin

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift held a moment of silence on Tuesday at her Reputation concert in Aretha Franklin’s hometown, Detroit.

Swift expressed how much of an influence Franklin had on the world, “Last week we lost an irreplaceable force. Aretha Franklin did so much for music, she did so much for women’s rights, she did so much for civil rights.”

“She was one of those people, no matter what you said, no matter what glowing, positive thing you said about her, words could never ever describe how many things she did in her lifetime that made our world a better place. And this is her home.”

Swift asked the crowd for a moment of silence to pay tribute to Franklin, “I would like it if we could take a moment of silence so that every single one of us could reflect on our love and respect for her.”

The entire stadium was silent and the lights were turned off. Swift continued after this touching moment of silence for the “Queen of Soul” and “We love you Aretha.”
