On Tuesday, Pink was surrounded by friends and family when she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, California.
“Wow, thank you. Thank you for standing out in the rain,” Pink said as she addressed the crowd. “This is surreal. This is really … I feel like I’m dreaming and if anyone pinches me I’m going to punch them in the left eyebrow.”
Pink continued, “I feel like a lot of people probably only ever thought I’d make it to the walk of shame, but, here I am. Two little letters make such a big difference.”
“This is surreal. It has been a trip lately thinking back over the course of this career I’ve somehow managed to have. I signed my first record deal 23 years ago … and I’m only 23½ so that’s crazy,” Pink joked.
“Today, for me, is a celebration of something that my dad taught me, and that is, ‘To thine own self be true,’” Pink expressed.
“And my husband,” Pink said as she turned to her husband, Carey Hart, who was holding their son. “He’s so cute, he’s my muse and if he didn’t piss me off so much, I’d not have a lot to say, thank you. I literally wouldn’t be standing up here if it weren’t for you, so don’t change. To my children, Willow Sage and Jameson Moon, you guys are my stars and I would never shine without you. Everybody, thanks, I love you!”
Ellen DeGeneres honored her friend Pink by giving a thoughtful speech. “She’s raising Willow as a strong, independent woman who respects themselves and others. And she’s teaching Jameson that he can just wipe his nose with his finger and put it on the carpet, we all saw that! She’s a badass rockstar, at least that’s how she signs her checks. I’m proud to be your friend, you deserve all of this and more. I love you,” DeGeneres said.
