Four months after giving birth to her daughter, Atlas, Pretty Little Liars alum Shay Mitchell reveals a support system is the key to success to being a new mom.
The 32 year old actress said to US Weekly, “I feel like definitely having the support system around you. I think especially having a newborn, you’re going up and down with your emotions and dealing with all new things that I’ve never had to deal with before.”

Atlas Noa, In my 32 years of life I thought I had seen a lot of places, experienced a lot of things, met a lot of people and felt love…then came you. Truth is I had no idea I was capable of loving anything like this before you arrived. You wonder if that’s just something people say, but it’s as if the chemical makeup of my entire body and soul changed the minute we met. I wake up each day (and also every 2-3 hours 😉 still in awe that you are mine, and I am yours. I’m still learning about you and I’ll never grow old of watching you slowly wake up, catch a glimpse of me or your dad and focus intently, almost as if to say “I know you.” Just know, sweet girl – Whatever you choose to do in this world, whoever you choose to love, wherever you choose to go, I will always be your biggest fan. I am already so proud to be your Mama. PS. The days of dressing you up as burritos and other snacks has only just begun. ❤️
Before Mitchell gave birth, she was transparent about her prepartum depression. She says that she leaned on her “squad” before and after giving birth, which has helped her become a better mom.
“It’s all the unknown is what I call it. So having a good group of friends and people around you who have either been through it, or can just be an ear to listen to all of your thoughts, and stories of what’s been going on [is key],” she stated. “But you know, I have a really, really good support team and so I’ve been really fortunate with that.”
Shay and her partner, Matte Babel, welcomed their daughter to the world in October 2019.
