Rami Malek has officially been confirmed as the villain in the upcoming James Bond movie!
The filmmakers behind Bond 25 revealed the cast, confirming that the Oscar-winner will take on the role of the villain. Cary Joji Fukunaga is set to direct, and Daniel Craig will return for his fifth time as Bond.
Fukunaga said, “Daniel is my favorite Bond and I want to make sure this run of films, which have been fantastic, have a really great next chapter and keep upping the ante so whoever is next has a harder job.”
“Bond is not on active service when we start — he’s enjoying himself in Jamaica. We consider it Bond’s spiritual home. He starts his journey here. We’ve built an extraordinary house for him. We’ve got quite a ride in store for Mr. Bond,” producer Barbara Broccoli said.
The preview of the film’s plot revealed that “[Bond’s] peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.”
“I’m very much looking forward to joining the whole cast and crew so very soon,” Malek said in a video message on Thursday, “and I promise you that I will be making sure Mr. Bond will not have an easy ride of it in this, his 25th outing.”
The film is set to be released in April of 2020.
