Prince Philip Reportedly Advised Prince Harry Not to Marry Meghan Markle

Prince Philip is said to have told his grandson, Prince Harry. “one steps out with actresses, one doesn’t marry them,” according to a report from the UK’s Sunday Times, according to Page Six.

Prince Philip allegedly made the remarks as Harry’s relationship with Meghan intensified. The couple announced their engagement in November 2017 and tied the knot last May.

Harry also endured a “challenging” time with brother William, as the Duke of Cambridge “was concerned about how quickly the relationship” between his younger sibling and the former “Suits” actress progressed, per royal expert Katie Nicholl.

Buckingham Palace had no comment on the reports, however the Evening Standard’s Royal Editor Robert Jobson told INSIDER that he “doesn’t believe the comments were made” by the duke.

The Sunday Times also reported that William had his concerns, apparently asking Harry, “Are you sure?” before he proposed in 2017.

“William wanted to make sure that Harry was making the right decision,” Nicholl recently told Fox News. “And I think what was intended as well-meaning, brotherly concern and a bit of advice went down quite badly with Harry, who felt that William wasn’t being as supportive as he might’ve been. So there has certainly been tensions between the brothers.”

“I think William sees how happy Meghan makes Harry,” Nicholl explained. “I think he’s quite impressed by Meghan, her work ethic, how quickly she’s adapted to royal life. Of course … the jury is still out. But actually, I think William has realized that Meghan is probably the best thing to happen to Harry.”
