Football fans get ready to rock! Even though we don’t know which two teams will face off in Super Bowl LIII on February 3, in Atlanta, Georgia, we do know who will grace the stage at halftime, Maroon 5.
Maroon 5 will be headlining the Super Bowl LIII Halftime show. While special guest appearances for the performance have not yet been finalized, Cardi B and Travis Scott are on the short list, Billboard has also learned.
A rep for the band declined to comment. In a statement, the NFL said, “It’s a Super Bowl tradition to speculate about the performers for the Pepsi Halftime Show. We are continuing to work with Pepsi on our plans but do not have any announcements to make on what will be another epic show.”
Adam Levine and his six bandmates are currently on tour promoting their 2017 album Red Pill Blues, they will have a break between New Year’s and February 19. Which makes this the perfect opportunity for Maroon 5 to finally reach the Super Bowl stage.
Before embarking on the tour in May, Levine opened up to Ellen Degeneres about bringing his wife Behati Prinsloo and daughters Dusty Rose, 23 months, and Gio Grace, 7 months, on the road with him for the first time. “We’ll probably have to have a family bus,” he told the talk show host. “Touring with the kids will be fun because it will be an amazing experience for them. They get to see the world.”
For Maroon 5, performing during the Super Bowl has been a longtime dream. During a 2015 interview with Howard Stern, Adam Levine admitted that the band “very actively wants to play the Super Bowl.”
The 2019 Super Bowl will take place on Feb. 3 at the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
