TV personality and legendary show host Larry King finally speaks about his near-fatal stroke nine months ago.
King goes on to say, “it’s been a tough year,” but he is grateful to be alive and is hopeful for 2020.
King, 86, says he has little recollection of his stoke. “When I came out of [the stroke] and learned what had happened, I had an instant thought and I said to my son[Chance], ‘I want to die,’ ”King tells PEOPLE, “But that was a passing thing. I never had that thought again, or before. And Chance kept me going. He said, ‘You can’t go, you’re not going to go,’ and so I came home.”
2019 has been tough on King, speaking of his divorce three months before his stoke. “I have less of a fear of dying now,” says King. “I’m 86 and it is what it is. I just want to keep working until the end. I’d like to die at work — I’ll retire right there!”
