Los Angeles Clippers Kawhi Leonard has received the first Kobe Bryant Award at the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, Feb 16. The MVP award for the NBA All-Stars was renamed to ‘The Kobe Bryant MVP Award’ honoring the late basketball legend.
Leonard celebrated his award by saying, “It means a lot to me. Words can’t even explain. I wanna thank Kobe for everything he’s done for me. All the long talks and workouts, this one is for him.”

Sunday’s game was filled with tributes for Kobe and his family. Rapper Dr. Dre displayed a compilation video of Bryant before the game began, while NBA legend Magic Johnson led a moment of silence to Bryant. Both Chance the Rapper and Jennifer Hudson gave performances throughout the game in remembrance.
