Kelly Clarkson is opening up about another medical emergency.
The singer revealed to PEOPLE in this week’s cover story that she faced a health scare yet again on live TV.
Back in May, Clarkson hosted the Billboard Awards with a burst appendix. She shared how she managed to sing with a smile throughout the show, “I just didn’t want to leave people hanging.”
With her doctors aware of her condition and standing by at the ready, she pushed forward. “I was just thinking about trying to relax,” she said. “But in reality, “I was in so much pain!”
Clarkson explained what happened recently while filming The Voice. “Blake [Shelton] was talking to me and all of the sudden, everything he said just went away and I had to grab his arm and I was like, ‘Something is wrong.’”
And that something, she later learned, was a cyst bursting on her ovary. “That was more painful than the appendicitis,” she said. “It was literally a week after my surgery so I was freaking out!”
“I had a giant cyst explode on my ovary!” she told the outlet. “I was hysterically laughing and crying in the ER like, ‘What is happening?'”
The Kelly Clarkson Show premieres Monday, Sept. 9 on NBC at 3 p.m.
