John Krasinski admitted to Ellen on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that he auditioned for Captain America, but the audition was “ruined” by Chris Hemsworth. Marvel had initially picked Chris Evans for the role, but they were looking to “see who else was out there,” Krasinski said. The Jack Ryan star said the audition was fun, but then he was asked to put on the Captain America suit.
“I was putting the suit on, and I was half-way up not wearing any other clothes other than this – right at that moment, Chris Hemsworth walked by and was like, ‘You look good, mate!’ And I was like ‘nope, you know what, it’s fine, we don’t have to do this.'” Chris Hemsworth was already in great shape for his role in Thor. Hemsworth spoke with Krasinski saying, “You’re going to look great in that suit!” Krasinski responded, “Don’t make fun of me, Hemsworth!”
After this failed audition, he went on to play roles in 13 Hours and Jack Ryan, where he had to get “jacked” like the Thor star. See the full interview here:
