Country singer Granger Smith and his wife are sharing an update with fans following the drowning death of his 3-year-old son, River, in emotional YouTube video.
Smith and wife Amber announced on June 6 that their youngest son died in a “tragic accident” at the family’s home, writing, “Our family is devastated and heartbroken.”
The grieving parents sat down for an emotional YouTube video nearly two weeks later to give a firsthand account of “how we’re doing and where we plan to go from here.”
Smith recalled the fateful day that changed their family forever, saying that, “what happened to us that night defied all possibilities.”
Smith and Amber said they relied on the support of families who’ve faced similar tragedies and hope to help other mourning parents find the light in darkness one day.
“We’ve talked to some celebrity parents who’ve gone through this. That seems to really help, having that understanding with each other,” he said. “That’s something we’re setting ourselves (up) for in the future, to be prepared to be people to talk to with something like this.”
