With the global population expected to increase from 7.6 billion to 9.8 billion by 2050, the world needs to rise to the challenge of feeding 29 percent more people using the same amount of land and water that we have today. That’s not easy. Many of us take farming for granted, even though each one of us depends on the fruits of farmers’ labor every day. Consider this: one U.S. farm feeds an estimated 168 people annually in America and abroad. So, supporting modern agriculture and the people who will be responsible for feeding our growing population has never been more important.
On Thursday, May 3, Culver’s frozen custard lovers nationwide will have the opportunity to directly support agricultural education organizations and the industry’s future leaders who will ensure a sustainable future food supply by participating in the fourth annual Culver’s Scoops of Thanks Day. Guests can purchase a scoop of fresh frozen custard at participating locations for just $1 and proceeds go directly to local FFA chapters, or other locally-based agricultural organizations. FFA now spans all 50 states providing more than 650,000 students a path to achievement in premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
Scoops of Thanks Day, which has generated more than $147,000 in donations to date, is part of Culver’s Thank You Farmers® Project. The Thank You Farmers Project is about more than just showing appreciation for the hard work of today’s farmers: It’s about ensuring our nation has enough food to serve our growing population by supporting ag education efforts that encourage smart farming. To date, the Thank You Farmers Project has raised more than $1.7 million for ag education.
