As for Emilia Clarke’s new look, the actress wears a wig to achieve her character’s icy blonde locks—though she did actually dye it for the show once.
But once the chemicals in the bleach started destroying her hair, the natural brunette chopped it all off, and went back to wigs.
“My hair was, like, dying,” she told Harper’s Bazaar UK, “I miss having nice hair.” So while she grows it back out to its pre-Thrones health, you can expect literal wig-snatching. And with the series finale coming at you next week, if there’s anything you should expect from GOT, it’s that you’ll never see what’s coming next, so you can expect to find your hair blown off by the end if it, too.
Emilia Clarke just posted a photo of herself in bald cap holding onto the one thing that got her through the show’s fieriest episode yet: alcohol. Specifically, a bottle of Dom Perignon (I mean, it’s the penultimate episode we’re talking about, so big or go home, amirite?).
“This is what it took not only to shoot ep5…but to watch it too,” Emilia wrote in her caption before adding the hashtag, “#soshockingitblewmywigoff.”
Clarke’s post, and her statement of shock at the episode, came after he onscreen counterpart opted to ignore the bells of surrender that rang out throughout King’s Landing and instead chose to lay waste to King’s Landing and every soul within its walls, including thousands of innocents.
The shocking twist, which was criticized by many fans, had been in the making since Season 1, according to showrunner David Benoiff.
