Duane Chapman was hospitalized over after suffering what could have been a heart attack.
“It feels much better now,” Chapman, 66, told FOX31 Denver on Wednesday, September 18, of the chest pain that sent him to the emergency room. “I’m going through some psychological things right now too, so that doesn’t help. I think, basically, I had a broken heart. And of course, it’s going to heal.”
“I couldn’t breathe,” he recalled. “It was like I had ran a three or four-mile run. … There’s something haywire of it’s psychologically. I don’t know. I guess things happen like that. I’ve never … I don’t do drugs.”
Chapman told the TV station that his assistant took him to a hospital in Castle Rock, Colorado, on Monday, September 16.
Monday’s episode of The Dr. Oz Show, the Dog’s Most Wanted star, 66, learned he was suffering from a pulmonary embolism in the heart.
“You’re a ticking time bomb,” Dr. Oz, who went to visit Dog at his Denver home, tells the TV star in the clip. “You’re not going to be here with the heart the way it is right now. Fear of death is normal. I’m surprised you don’t fear death when you’re chasing after convicts. But when you run away from doctor, that means you have to do your own doctoring.”
Sources told TMZ that the Dog the Bounty Hunter and Dog’s Most Wanted star was taken to a hospital in Colorado after feeling a pain in his chest. Doctors are reportedly still doing tests to determine exactly what happened.
Doctors performed a variety of tests and believe that the 66-year-old’s medical episode was related to stress and blood pressure issues, according to the website. One of the procedures was an angiogram, which reportedly came back with normal results, indicating he did not suffer a heart attack.
Family members had a serious talk with him after his weekend hospitalization for what seemed like a possible heart attack — and made it clear something’s gotta give.
The test results should also reportedly indicate whether or not Chapman, 66, will need surgery following the incident.
The health scare comes nearly three months after Chapman’s wife, Beth Chapman, died in June after a battle with lung cancer.
