It’s time to make 2020 the year you Start with Eye. You can tell a lot about a person by looking into their eyes, but those windows to the soul are also the windows to our overall health. March is “Save Your Vision” month. It’s not just about your vision – it is about much more!
It is important to know the difference between a vision screening and a yearly comprehensive eye exam. The eye exam looks more at your eye health, while a vision screening checks on your sight. A comprehensive exam detects everything from dry eyes to eye strain to glaucoma, diabetes, hypertension and even certain cancers. It could diagnose more than 270 serious health conditions. Make sure you’re talking to your doctor about any issues, so you can work together and make sure your eyes are healthy.
The American Optometric Association recently launched its Start with Eye campaign to make vision care a priority! Get your #2020EyeExam and encourage others to do the same. It’s all about making sure everyone has clear vision in 2020 and, more importantly, healthy eyes.
Don’t let transportation keep you from learning about your eye health. During the month of March, the AOA is providing a free Lyft in 10 different U.S. cities, to get patients to and from comprehensive eye exams appointments. Find out if your city offers Rideshare for Eye Care at, www.AOA.org/Lyft
