As Seen on the Show

It Became Known as the “Angelina Jolie Effect”

We know what happens when celebs put their star-power behind products, charities and even health issues. We saw it In 2013 when Actress Angelina Jolie revealed her decision to take preventative measures to prevent Ovarian and Breast Cancer.

Jolie’s star power reportedly helped to raise awareness and genetic testing among women.

Ovarian cancer is the fifth most common cause of cancer death in women.  About 22-thousand U-S women are diagnosed annually with ovarian cancer and an estimated 222,000 women are living with it -many with advanced disease.

Now, new developments will significantly change treatment options for patients.

The FDA recently approved a once a day oral park inhibitor called Zejula for maintenance therapy in patients who have been re-treated and gotten response in platinum based therapy. this oral once a day therapy a pill once a day can significantly lengthen this time of subsequent remission. Preventing disease progression and lowering the death rate during that time.

It’s important to know your family history and keep up with your once a year exams and I would bet money within a decade we’ll have better screening tests that’s the hope for the future
