AMC Theatres is putting the brakes on its big reopening!
The world’s largest movie chain had initially planned to reopen theaters on July 15th, but now says it expects to open 450 of its more than 600 theaters on July 30th.
The move comes as coronavirus cases have spiked in much of the U.S. over the past two weeks and after some sure-to-be Hollywood blockbusters delayed their release dates. “Tenet,” the sci-fi thriller from Christopher Nolan, was pushed back to August 12th while the live-action remake of “Mulan” was delayed until August 21st.
AMC released the safety precautions its theaters will be taking; including reduced auditorium capacities, mandatory face masks, enhanced cleaning procedures and simplified menus with no refills.
AMC says it hopes to be fully operational by early August.
