Amazon is celebrating the holiday season by delivering smiles to thousands of children and families in immediate need across the country throughout December.
The #DeliveringSmiles program, which kicked-off on Giving Tuesday in Amazon’s hometown of Seattle, will use festively wrapped semi-trucks and Amazon’s Treasure Truck to make more than 30 stops at nonprofit organizations in cities where Amazon employees live and work.
On Thursday, December 7, Amazon’s Treasure Truck will make stops to nonprofits in 11 cities (Austin, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Portland, San Francisco and Seattle) delivering STEM toys, household items, and books as well as items from the nonprofits’ Amazon Wish Lists. The surprise visits will also include a fun winter wonderland for the children featuring a mix of seasonal music, holiday characters, games, story time, photo booths, holiday treats and even some falling snow.
Additionally, throughout the month of December, Amazon will make even more donation stops with help from festively wrapped semi-trucks. Combined with Amazon’s Treasure Truck deliveries, the donations will total more than $500,000 nationally.
As part of the #DeliveringSmiles program, for every mile its vehicles travel to the various donation stops, Amazon will also donate $1 to the National Alliance to End Homelessness. Amazon customers are also encouraged to give back to the nonprofit organizations important to them by shopping on smile.amazon.com this holiday season, and by donating to the Amazon Wish Lists of the participating nonprofits.
