49ers’ Player Shares Heartbreaking News About Losing Son Hours Before Game

Shortly after scoring an 83-yard touchdown for the 49ers during the first quarter of their 31-21 win against the Giants on Sunday afternoon, Marquise Goodwin dropped down to his knees and appeared to be overcome with emotion as he celebrated San Francisco’s longest play from scrimmage on the season.

But as it turns out, his emotions didn’t have anything to do with football or the play he had just made on the field.

He blew a kiss to the sky as he crossed the goal line and then dropped to his knees in the end zone. At the time, no one knew the tragic pain he and his wife, Morgan, endured during the early hours of Sunday morning.

The two lost their baby boy around 4 a.m. after complications forced a premature birth.

“Unfortunately, we lost our baby boy due to some complications, and had to prematurely deliver him early this morning around 4am,” Goodwin wrote in an Instagram post. “The pain (physically, mentally, & emotionally) that she (Morgan) has endured is unbelievable. Please Pray for the Goodwin family.”
